SpaceMom Hiatus in 5… 4… 3…

SpaceMom Mynxee

So… I’m embarking upon a long hiatus from all things EVE, and it is probably permanent. I’ve been drifting in this direction for some time, as many of you realize. Although I love our community and am proud of my part in things here, I have little interest or energy for EVE stuff these days.

Mostly, this is due to RL becoming much more demanding. Besides my existing portrait commissions (I’m an artist in RL), an opportunity to open a teaching studio in an ideal location recently presented itself. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time — experience has demonstrated that teaching art classes and workshops can be both fun and lucrative! So, I’ve co-signed a lease with an artist friend for the space (she’ll run a gallery; I’ll run the teaching studio) and now we have to make good on our considerable investment. I’ve been working on a lot of stuff already but OMG there is So Much To Do to prep for a Feb 1 launch. It’s all very exciting though!

Anyway, almost 13 years in the game and nearly 5 since Signal Cartel launched is a good run! Mynxee will remain in the corp but I’m stepping down from the leadership team and away from EVE activity entirely, effectively as of now. And nope, you can’t have my stuff. There’s not that much of it anyway. I’m keeping my Pacifier, one Astero, and a billion ISK. The rest is getting donated to the corp for Thrice to do with as he sees fit.

I <3 you all and thank everyone for bringing their own magic to the mix that makes Signal Cartel an amazing community–especially Thrice Hapus for CEOing (it ain’t easy!) and Johnny Splunk for starting it all. I treasure their friendship and all other friendships I’ve made through EVE — all of which most definitely transcend the game.

So that’s all there is to say about that, then. Fly clever, spacekids!

We seek the New Eden community’s help to choose a community favorite from among the 10 prize-eligible stories submitted to our recent Signal Cartel in-character writing contest.

The stories are:

The survey will run for a week. The story with the most votes when the poll closes will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, the judging team of Cassandra Habalu, Mynxee, and Quinn Valerii will cast votes to break ties. I will update this post after the poll concludes to announce the winner.
Enjoy the stories, and thanks for voting!

Signal Cartel 2017 In-Character Writing Contest

Editor’s Note: The list of stories and links to them are at the bottom of this post.

Signaleer Quinn Valerii organized a writing contest for Signal Cartel members recently, and finally the judging has concluded and winners have been selected. The contest was judged by Quinn, myself, and Cassandra Habalu. We were all pleased and surprised at the quality of writing and storytelling; it was very difficult to choose winners. But each judge independently assigned points on accuracy, flow, and engagement and thus arrived at the results.

Winners and prizes(copied from Quinn Valerii’s results post on our forums because I’m lazy!) are shown below. Prizes were funded by the corp and with generous donations from our members.

The results of the Freeform / Ingame Based Category are:

1st place: Lucas Ballard – “When the Sisters Call” – 1 full set of Mid-Grade Virtue scanning implants
2nd place: Tom Servonaut – “Reliquary In Three Parts” – 500 Plex
3rd place: A Dead Parrot – “Almost Lost” -Pacifier Special Edition Covert Ops frigate + 250 million ISK

Introducing Signal Cartel’s New Site and Blog!

Greetings, and welcome to Signal Cartel’s new home on GalNet.

Since our inception, Signal Cartel information has been presented on the EvE-Scout web site, along with information published by EvE-Scout about connections to Thera.  As Signal Cartel has grown and diversified in its own service offerings and activities, we wanted a more collaborative space to share our stories and activities. This site was set up for that purpose by Signaleer Thrice Hapus and my delightful co-leader Johnny Splunk; many thanks to both of them for their help. (Note: Our application for joining, recruiters’ tools, and forums will remain at www.eve-scout.com for admin reasons.)

Here, you will find information about Signal Cartel’s various divisions, alliance information, a group blog, a link to our swag store (soon!), and more to come. Our members will be invited to share their exploration- or corp/alliance-related adventures, in-character musings, creative efforts, game features expertise, and research findings in the blog. Original posts and selected cross-posts from members’ blogs and our internal forums are all candidates for publication here. We might even consider guest posts from the wider New Eden community. Regardless of who authors the posts you read here, they will be curated by me and edited for suitability, readability, and editorial quality prior to publication.

As busy and engaged as our members are, we should generate a lot of new blog content every month. Let us know what you enjoy by commenting on and sharing posts. And don’t forget to add our blog to your blogrolls and aggregation sites.
